Fernando Emmanuel Velazco (born on September 20, 1985 in Buenos Aires) is a young Argentinean writer. The focus in his writing is on art and music, contemporary and historical. He often writes about the artists of the early days of punk rock, new wave and art/industrial music in the late 70s and early 80s and about those artists and bands who have been influenced by them. He has said that he is on a mission to inform young musicians and music lovers about the rich musical history that preceded them and influenced them. It frustrates him, for example, that some young punk rock bands don't even know who Iggy Pop is! Some of his own musical literary influences have been Lester Bangs, Metal Mike and Enrique Symns. Fernando says, "I don't know why journalists who write about music always write about the same bands! I hate this! I think that Pylon, Swell Maps, Black Randy and Stiv Bators are better than Radiohead, Muse or The Killers. There are a lot of good bands that aren't influenced just by bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin. They are influenced by people like Joy Division and Gang of Four, and these bands should be on the covers of magazines too!"
